Thanks to all of our members, residents and donors in this program! You helped 9 families this year!!

Final Update Dec. 7:

We’re incredibly happy to announce the final totals for the 2020 Holiday Adopt-a-Family, and we just couldn’t be happier about it.

Thanks to our generous donors, NINE families in the community will be given a hand up this holiday season! That’s well above the initial two that we had in mind.

All-in-all we will donate $4850 from 37 donors to families in the Thorncliffe Greenview area this Christmas! What an extraordinary way for our community to support each other!

Please have a look through our full donors list, and keep us in mind when you’re planning your holiday giving budget next year!

Update Dec. 1:

Well, you folks really came through and overwhelmed us with donations for these families in need this holiday season!

We’re in the final week of the Adopt-a-family 2020 program, and we’re on track to help 6 or even 7 families! And it’s all because of you!

Have a look at your giving budget this year, and know that a donation to a local family will change things for each of them. Let’s provide some full bellies and full hearts, everyone. Together!

Update Nov. 20:

Amazing news!! We’ve added more families to this program for the upcoming holiday because we met our goal for the first 2 as well as an additional family of 6 in just over a week!

Our kind individual, family and group donors came together and delivered the funds to these families in need in such a short period of time that we must see how many more we can help.

We have now raised enough funds to provide a hand up for 2 families of 5, and another family of 6, and we’re going to continue to look to our wonderful community for further donations until the Dec. 4 deadline and get the remaining funds to the appropriately-sized family or families, dependent on how much we’ve raised at that time.

So, if you were contemplating a donation, please don’t shy away now. We’ve been assured by Thorncliffe School that there are yet more families that we can make this holiday bright and memorable for, together!

We can help some families in need this holiday season, together!

This has been a year to remember for most, and for many struggling families it’s one that they may want to forget. Inspiring hope and excitement this holiday season could make a serious difference in a family’s ability to cope with the crisis that surrounds all of us right now. Our community can offer that hope and excitement by coming together and making this a Christmas worth remembering for some families in need.

In partnership with Thorncliffe School, the TGCA has identified two community families of 5 that can use our help with the often overwhelming expenses of the upcoming holiday season. Please look at your giving budget this season and see if you can help these families. Giving is truly the spirit of the season.

Our goal is to provide $625 to each family, and if we exceed our goal, we will find another family in the area to lend a hand to.

Because of the protocols surrounding the pandemic, the TGCA is opting to collect donations through our website, which will be collected and given to the families in the form of a cheque. We take VISA, Mastercard, as well as Interac Online for TD Bank and Royal Bank.

We are accepting suggested donations in the following denominations: $20, $35, $50, $100, $150, $200.

When you are donating please input your name or your family’s name to indicate whether you’d be added to our list of generous donors for this initiative. If you would like to make an anonymous donation, please don’t put anything in the box. A donor list has been created to honor everyone who contributed to supporting these families. Donors’ contributions will not be disclosed.

The deadline for donations is December 4.

If you would like to donate but not on the website, or if you have any questions, please contact Vanessa,, or call 403-274-6840.

Please note that the TGCA cannot give charitable tax receipts for this initiative, as we aren’t a charitable foundation but a non-profit organization.
