Welcome back TGCA. We are slowly emerging from our cocoon and hopefully will become the beautiful butterfly. The COVID isolation is slowly moving on and we are taking steps to reopen to our members and guests.stay tuned as dates for access to the 56 and other activities will be posted weekly by Vanessa. We look forward to seeing our bingo players, arena users and 56 clients soon. We have refreshed the look of our large hall and lobby with a fresh new paint colour. We have hired a new 56 manager who will be updating our menu and ensuring our service to members is top notch. We have a new pizza oven so our pizza quality should be amazing!
What did we learn from the shutdown? Seeing families taking time to walk and play together was uplifting. The colour of the sky is blue, and air quality with less cars and airplanes is amazing. We saw that our playground is a great place to gather and food trucks are a great substitute for not being able to go to a restaurant. We have learned that 6 feet is a comfortable distance and hand washing is now a habit. Cleanliness is godliness and outdoor activities are great. We are in the midst of creating a new normal and so far we are looking good.
Not all things are positive as once again we had to say goodbye to lifetime members. The last few months saw the passing of Cam Bell and Rollie Allen. Two of our longtime members who built TGCA. These amazing people were up to any task from running ice resurfacers to organizing parties and volunteering in any capacity to see the creation of this wonderful complex built for our kids. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bell and Allen families. We thank you both for your dedication , friendship and contributions to making this community a force in the city of Calgary. You will be missed.
